This is Emily's writings. She is an older woman who can not use her hands like she once used to. I found her to be an amazing figure and a wonderful poet. This is her work throughout her life and these quotes amongst her favorite. It is my pleasure to share with you - her wisdom which goes much deeper than the mere written word, as she will tell you herself.

Roots of the old tree
clutch the ground -
the tree above them dead -
last leaves shed . . .
But roots locked deep
in earth's rich dark -
are dead fingers
in a living heart.

..once the realization is accepted that, even between the closest human
beings, infinite distnces continue to exist, a wonderful living side by side
can grow up, if they succeed in loving the distance between them which
makes it possible for each to see the other whole and against a wide sky!

- Rilke
